She is coming into her teenage years and the dress already seems too short, riding high above her knees. She has, perhaps, worn it twice since then. She’s sitting on the verandah wearing the blue dress I bought her last summer. The first thing I am conscious of is my little girl, Jessa. I watch and I listen and I hope to not miss any more time. And when I remember back to other times and other places, I see and hear them as though I’m reliving them.īut when I remember, I miss things that are happening now. It’s not something that I ever considered when I was alive. That’s strange, isn’t it? To be dead and know that but to not know how it happened. We will be featuring an interview in the upcoming weeks to find out a little more about Eliza so today I will leave it at just a tempting teaser of her compelling debut. Thanks to Harper Collins we are able to bring you an extract from the book, a little taste to whet your appetites of the engaging debut of young Aussie author Eliza Henry Jones. Recently I read and loved In The Quiet, which is one of our Book Club titles.
